The mission of the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 318 is to successfully deliver the 3 Aims of Scouting: Character Development, Citizenship Training, and Personal Fitness through the 8 methods laid out by our founder, Lord Baden-Powell. They are the IDEALS, the PATROL METHOD, monthly OUTDOOR PROGRAMS, self paced ADVANCEMENT, weekly ASSOCIATION with ADULTS, PERSONAL GROWTH and LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT opportunities, and the UNIFORM.

We look for creative ways to guide the boys through each of these areas, with a healthy dose of fun and excitement. We learn and grow together, but each at our own individual pace.

Troop 318 has been a part of the Occoneechee council for over 40 years. In the early 1970's we moved to our new location at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, were we meet to this day. We are an active troop that "GOES". We camp, we hike, we bike, and we canoe. We strive for variety in both our outings, learning weekends, and in the service and outreach to our community. We annually work on trial maintenance in the area, and for the last several years have supported the St. Baldrick's Foundation at the Hiberian Shave-a-thon.
